SME Series V Tonearm Parts
Were can I get parts for this arm?
In the sellers rush and mine I bought a nice SOTA Star Deck with the SME arm. However when I got it home I notisted it didn't have the oil dampening assembaly nor the VTA adjustment threaded rod. So I would need all the assembly and attaching hardware. I feel like a noob as I have another SOTA with the same arm. In doing a search Stereophile had a link to a US distributer, Acoustic Sound. They have one for the IV with a crazy nuts-so price on it, really all the parts they have are Overpriced.com. I would like this arm as from the factory but paying 35% of the total of the arm isn't happening. Hell I don't even use the oil dampening on the other arm I have. |

Try Flat Earth Audio. I believe they are the US distributor. I got a tonearm cable for my SME 309 through them once.

I have contacted SME direct in the past and they offered to send me parts I needed so you can purchase some parts direct if that’s a better deal for you. I think you can live without the oil dampening assembly quite easily - I’ve not filled mine and some owners claim the V is better without the assembly even installed. The VTA screw is more important, you will need that to adjust VTA precisely so if you don’t have one with your other arm which you can use easily, I’d just buy one from SME. It’s part number 5860/ P0860 according to their site (see SME - Spare parts / Accessories)

I would just like the arm right in case I sell it later and right now it has a nut exsposed. The VTA adjuster screw threads into the oil dampening housing so without it you lose that feature as well. |
