Default Two vs Two

Curious ... based on your opinion and/or your experiences.

What would be the pros or cons of operating two TT's or one TT w/ two arms in the same stereo system using the E.A.R 324 phono preamp [which has the ability to select between two inputs]?

Beyond the basic advantage of loading two separate albums for faster playback, I am wondering if some of you see strong advantages for either option. Or, do many of you prefer one TT with a single arm?

2-Channel.......I would imagine that personal preference would be the guide. Turntables, tonearms, and the combination of the two all have sonic signatures. A person may prefer two, three or more different turnatbles and arm combinations, and may even select specific music for a particular turntable based on its sonic signature. The sky, and your bank account are the limits.

2-Channel,
That's an interesting question, and way beyond my ambition with vinyl. That being said, if you're into it, I would think that the two table option would be the way to go (cost aside) so you could mix and match with more options.

Dan,
Those pictures are incredible. That's a serious setup if I ever saw one!

I would think that dual tone arms would be ideal regardless of the number of turn tables you have. With dual tone arms one could be set up for stereo and the other mono. If you have multiple tables I think they would be for different sonic signatures that you would choose depending on the recording you wished to play. A bit too much fuss for me but I can see benefits of a set up like that.

Dan,

Thanks for posting again these photos : this place must be a heaven on earth for a vinyl aficionado !! I think I could spend days there with just water and music....
Some are really more nuts than us. I'll show this to my wife ! Especially while ordering the 2301's !

Nice man cave . That is what my wife calls my 2 channel room. With those high ceilings it looks like a fun place to listen. I like the way the wall behind his speakers is shaped like a horn with s solitary speaker stuck in the middle. I would think his room must sound very bright wth huge horns, wood floor, wood walls and not much soften it up ?

Great insights. Thank You!

With so little listening experience, of late, regarding vinyl and high end TT's, I hadn't considered matching and pairing specific music selections to the TT/arm/cart combinations, but that certainly justifies the multiple TT approach.

That listening room is very special. I always appreciate that level of commitment to whatever passion is being pursued. What a treat to see it. It's beyond most of our expectations to achieve something as impressive as that room, but it does excite and motivate me to meximize my dollars and my efforts in my pursuit of a truly enjoyable stereo system and listening space.

2-Channel........I think the photos alone could have effectively answered your question without a word from me.
