Thanks JDandy and Mypal. Well, I want to make my own high quality tapes of a number of really well recorded CDs/Vinyl. In a way I want to try a recreate for my own private listening pleasure tapes similar to those companies making high end prerecorded reel to reel tapes. Once I get the hang of how to work the ATR 60, I might also do this for friends as well. I think it is a far better idea to have a couple of these machines and be able to create your own top quality tapes than be at the financial mercy of a high end tape company who charges a lot of money to make their own high end pre recorded master tapes.

Additionally, being that I am a guitarist/musician of a small level of competency, I could use the Tascam ATR 60 as part of my own home studio.
I still want to get a Tascam ATR 80, which has 2 inch tape and 24 tracks; but as an opening purchase, just to get my feet wet, the Tascam ATR 60 in such incredible condition is an excellent find. I am very lucky to have found this machine and to have won the ebay auction. A unit such as this, in the condition that it is in, might only come up for auction once every three or four years.

If you think about it; why spend the $300 per high quality pre recorded tape when you can buy all the equipment and be able to make as many of these tapes on your own?
