According to a review of Panasonic's DP-UB9000 player, 59% of all video sales are on physical media. The review is dated last year, but that's still an impressive number. Not sure if I want to get into 4K discs, but I may have to consider a disc player at some point if enough of my preferred material is on 4K, as I have a new 65" Sony A9G on the way.

I've exhausted all the sources I could think of and no LX500 to be found, so I'll have to consider alternatives if I want a 4K player. One thought is to get an inexpensive (though not cheap) one and use a digital audio out to my existing player for its sound quality, but I don't see digital audio inputs on it. Oh well.

Try the Sony X1100ES or the 800mk2. Plays SACD as well. The last universal player of its kind. 4K disc will give you superior picture and especially audio.

Klipsch may yet find a way to again import Pioneer's premium universal disc players (UDP-LX500 and 800). The pandemic and change of US distributor has undoubtedly led to difficulties. There are no other current players with their capabilities, and at least the 800 was felt to be the equal in video quality of any other current disc player
