Speak for yourself. I am a Bryston user very interested in MQA. How else are you going to stream high-res in Canada with no Qobuz? |

Manic Moose is dreadful! I would only use my old Bryson with Roon. Then it died and I moved on. Bryston needs to build a decent music app or redesign their system to use something like the Lumin app. Anything is better than the dreaded “moose”.

MQA is not what it's cracked to be. Reference Mark Waldrep and Neil Young for more insight. As has ben discussed before most "Hi-Rez" if it does sound better is more a function of the re-mastering than putting the same stuff in a "bigger bag."
I'd like to see Qobuz integration on parallel with Tidal in Manic Moose (especially in Artist Mode). Hopefully it will come when whatever Qobuz/Canada roadblocks are cleared. In the meantime, patience abodes with understanding for the Bryston's position.

The thing is with Roon, it needs a Roon core installed on a regular PC (except maybe for the Nucleus I believe). And the Bryston BDP only acts as an end point. I believe it's the connection between the two that degrades the performance. I admit that how it was connected back then was sub par but regarless, I got the best sound from the BDP with the internal hard drive and it was quite easy to discern the difference. After reading the BDP-3 review over HiFi Advice, the author confirmed the same stating that the sound was degraded with the use of a NAS. Applying the same logic, Roon would be subjected to the same conclusion with a BDP. Since I got the best sound out of the internal SSD the BDP, Rigelian just makes it even sweeter as it's interface is similar to Roon or other streaming platforms. It operates the same as Manic Moose except with a neat interface. Nothing wrong with Manic Moose as it is extremely stable (never crashed once, and this is why I went with a complete Bryston solution instead of a regular PC) but in my opinion it's interface belongs in the Windows 95 era when compared to Aurender, Auralic, Spotify, Tidal, etc. I agree that Bryston should come up with a prettier interface because we are relying on third party apps for their products to fill that gap.

On the other end, I am also evaluating AmazonMusic which also has hi-res streaming but no MQA (AFAIK, correct me in I am wrong).

Under no conditions will I allow Bryston products to endorse MQA for so many reasons. james |

I really prefer to not have a computer in my music room. Of course, any streamer is indeed a computer. But the Bryston offers more of a conventional audio component look and feel - and its stability is a big part of that. So I can easily accept that Bryston's interface isn't as elegant as some of the competition.

Quite honestly, I don't fully grasp all the concepts of MQA and its actual practical use for the end user (or its benefits if any). I haven't done much research on this topic as I have almost zero interest in it simply because I really like how my BDA-3/BDP-3 combo sounds even on regular CD rips. If you don't endorse it as a company I believe there are very good reasons to do so and I thrust your call judgement.

I feel the same about Manic Moose; While I like the versatility of third party apps, it's good to know that Bryston are working hard on a new interface (whatever the name is). I really did appreciate as a customer that Bryston asked our opinions on this board what we would like to see in an upcoming software update. Very few companies are dedicated as this. Another point for Bryston support, when I started using my BDP-2 two years ago I had some initial issues, and Chris at Bryston fixed the problems remotely. Another point, the BDP-1 is still fully supported; some companies would just dump support for being "too old". Did I say this sounds good too?
