Thanks.
Nice set-up.
Not sure I'll go for the D-N10, though it would be a nice match. Will need to upgrade my CDP at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Am wondering if I will be able to feed the iPod input directly from my Oppo 04HD. If so, will open up another input.
If the phono-stage turns out to be as good as I'm hoping I will be selling my Cary PH-302, which is outstanding, and replacing it with the K&K Premium SUT, which is what is inside the PH-302. The K&K is about 1/25th the size of the PH-302 and I'm truly 'downsizing'.
Will be pushing a pair of Focal 1008Be II monitors, which are 89db efficient. Also, my primary listening position is in the near-field, so that will be another help.
Am hoping that the headphone output (which is driven off the output tubes) will drive a 35' extension cable without any problem.

p.s. - we have that lamp with a rectangular shade. Obviously, great minds think alike.

Those little speakers are not easy to drive. Well not easy for a low watt tube amp. It will be fine at low levels but you can't push it as you said. This observation has nothing to do with the EL tube but it's to do with you speakers,

I can drive my very efficient Altec 604e to ear splitting levels with my 4 watt EL 84 amp. With no distortion.

The Luxman is 12 watts but with good reserves. No, I can't drive loud rock to fill the room with the Minis, but even though they're not terribly efficient, they're not very big either. This is a second system and I can certainly play at reasonable volume levels, especially classical chamber and jazz, which is what I mostly listen to on this little system. I save the big works and big volume for my main system. I suspect Glenn will have no trouble at all with his Focals.

Think you are correct. Will let you know. Very, very rare when I rock out. Am 75/20/5 jazz/classical/rock. 3rd CD of Art Pepper's "Blues for the Fisherman" as I type.

They are small but as some say "size doesn't matter". They are not easy to drive. Like you said they sound good, but when you push them 12 watts just ain't enough. Nothing wrong with that, it's just the way it is. My Altecs are huge, but I can drive them with 2 watts to huge volumes. Speaker size is not part of the equation.

Sorry to hijack your thread Glenn. Be sure to post some pictures when your amp arrives, I think you're going to love it.

Absolutely. The seller took my order, so fingers crossed that the SQ-N10 will be forth-coming. Was told that Luxman had them in their warehouse on the west coast as recently as a week ago. We'll see.

Fedex shows my SQ-N10 arriving this Friday. Fingers crossed.
Also ordered a matched quad of 6P14P-EV tubes (the "ruggedized" Soviet military version of the EL84) from a Russian reseller at a good price. I'll run the stock tubes for a couple of weeks until the new ones arrive. Should give an excellent baseline for comparison and also see if he is a good source for tubes. Need to decide on which ECC82 & ECC83 to roll-in, as well.

It was my dad's old table, I refurbished it and built a new curly maple base for it a couple of years ago to use in my second system. It's not the final word in audiophile sound, but it's respectable, and fun to play my dad's old classical albums on.
