Devore speakers are also really good and Matt has a lot of experience matchng different components. Besides the Gibbons, the O/96 and O/93 speakers look really interesting, depending upon your budget, both in dollars and space,

Gary,
Thanks a lot. I'm looking for small footprint speakers there due to waf problems and besides I also have two other large systems.
Those Ref 3A speakers are very nice.
When I will get the Apetite, I will try it on various speakers I have at home, which are not supposed to work with a low power amp like that ( but my experience in the past showed me that preconceived statements are the norm in this hobby ). Depending on the results, I may take a high eff way or not.....
Will also be able to try the Apetite on various speakers I'm interested in at dealers, including the Rega RS10 and the Mulidine Cadence.

After reading these posts I felt confident to tackle the hum problem I’ve always had. It was audible from over 3 meters away - in the end had to remove Mr T from my system.
Firstly, I checked the mounting screws at the base and found these locked tight, so no joy there. I then decided to approach the problem from the inside – and I’m glad I did. With everything disconnected and using a long neck socket wrench I very (very) carefully checked the mounting nuts and found each could be tightened about one and a half turns (not over tightened). This resulted in about a 75% reduction in the hum. The lesson here is not to assume everything’s tight – even if you can’t turn the external screw heads.
I then discovered when I lightly held the sides of the outer casing (gently pushing inwards) the hum reduced even more. My treatment for this was to carefully slide a small square of Sorbothane between the (inner) case sides and transformer which resulted in near silence. Not very scientific I know, but it’s worked for me.

I have 2 Mr. T's and both have a touch of hum to them. I found that weighting them (I use two heavy hats for each from Mapleshade) reduces the audible sound to nil unless you shove your head in the audio rack which would be a weird way to enjoy music. No such issues with my Shindo VR or Montrachet.

Default Transformer hum

For my Torii MK4, the closest I ever get to my amp is when I have to change the volume.

At that close distance, I still cant hear any external transformer hum emanating from my unit.
