More Sinnful behavior...
Just got this yesterday; used but in very good nick with only light wear....the amazing Sinn Einsatzzeitmesser 3 (EZM3)!
This watch was specifically developed by Sinn for the elite German Grenzschutzgruppe (GSG-9) special forces in underwater tactical operations. Features and Specs: Designed for extremely cold environmental conditions. Argon-filled watch cavity prevents fogging by eliminating moisture intrusion, and special micro-lubricating techniques allows for operation down to -45 degrees Centigrade (-95 degrees F). Specially compensated movement protects against magnetic interference. Reversed crown designed to prevent underwater snagging. A unique deep-water timepiece designed for extreme undersea environments. Sand-blasted stainless steel case, ETA 2824.2 automatic movement, anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, hermetically sealed and screw-reinforced back, uni-directional elapsed time bezel reversed screw-down crown, quick-set date window, luminous hands and markings, shock-resistant, anti-magnetic, waterproof leather band, 50 ATM water resistance, presentation box. Width is 41 mm at excluding crown and 45 mm including crown, lug to lug is 47 mm, Thickness is 12 mm. With it's antireflective crystal and clean, clear hands and dial, the legibility of this piece is off the charts. It's currently running at about +1 second per day. The stock Sinn bracelet is very well made and very comfortable, as is the destro crown. Really impressed with the build quality, fit'n finish and execution on this watch; this watch was originally purchased in 2005 and is 10 years old, yet it's in terrific condition. The bezel feels like it's on micro-ball bearings. Also, the lume is very, very good. From a charge justfrom the lights on in the house during the evening last night, there was still strong luminescence this morning after 8 hours in the dark. This was one of my favorites at the SF WatchBuys show in July, and now that I've worn one for a day, this is a really, really nice watch. This might become my favorite watch and daily driver, to boot.

Thanks, Dan, I like it a lot, too. Not as dressy as my Sinn 104i, much more of a tool watch vibe, but VERY well made, very solid, very comfortable. Feels like it would just laugh at anything you could throw at it. A great watch for EDC...

Dan, yes, it is. It's called a destro crown. It was specifically designed not to get in the way of the hands of scuba divers during their operations. I bought this one from a retired police officer and firearms instructor, who liked the destro crown specifically because it did not interfere with his pistol shooting accuracy. I thought they were kind of weird at first, but it actually makes the watch very, very comfortable to wear.

Stephen, outstanding looking watch. A small digression if I may? How did you shoot the black background shots? Looks like reflected light, mirror in a dark area, and about a F2.8 aperture, although maybe not as that sweep hand is razor sharp. Am I even close?

The black background is simply a piece of black acrylic resting on a piece of black seamless. Shot on my Giottos GTST5352 Folding Table Top Photo Studio. F11 at 1/160th second shooting with my speedlights set up in speedlight softboxes.

Thanks, Stephen. I had assumed no flash because there was no flash flare; i.e. I failed to consider a softbox. That led me to a wide aperture and a resulting mystery as to why there was no motion blur on the sweep hand. A soft fill flash with a dark background was a shrewd solution. You are a real pro!

Congratulations Stephen I'm seriously considering the EZM3 or EZM3F.
I see that you're a member at Watchuseek. Did you buy the ezm3 from there? |
