I am building a new house looking for some recommendations for the components ie multichannel amplifier and HT processors with a budget of 15-20 k. My last system had a Mcintosh MC207 and a Mcintosh MX120 all of which I sold with my last house as they were all over 10 years old at the time. Speakers are going to be Sonus Faber Guarneri Mementos with matching finish Cremona M Center channel. I do have a pair of Stradivaris’s I am planning for a separate 2 channel room.
I could go Mcintosh again but since it’s been awhile I wanted to pick the brains of the AA family ![]() I also had two JL audio F112 subs in my last system and may only do one sub this time first. Trying to decided between having a 100 inch tv and an ultra short throw projector 120 inch ? Room has a lot of windows.

You have nice problems to work out.
![]() If you want to look in a different direction than the McIntosh brand, have a look at the Byston SP3 and the 21B3 and 9B3 amps. I'd bet a buck Ivan could hook you up nicely.

Or that Marantz AV 10 and a NAD M28 (with Eigentakt amp modules!)...
https://nadelectronics.com/product/m...wer-amplifier/ Saves you money for a very decent sub. Edit: the Marantz separates are 7K each by the way.

I use McIntosh for amplification (MC452, MC601, MC205 and MI254) and Oppo for Blu-ray. My projector is the Sony VPL-XW6000ES I just bought from Ivan. |

I you are building new, you should consider an Atmos capable processor even if you don't yet have Atmos. Again, if you are building new, consider installing the Atmos speakers.

I have become a huge Anthem fanboy since setting up my new theater...I had previously used Classe SSP800 with both McIntosh & Classe amplification over the years. The Anthem with ARC is next level. I run Anthem AVM90 Pro, MCA 225 amp + 2 MCA 525s. We went with inwall Paradigms as well as their ceiling mounts. I then added 5 REL Subs (one small REL for the center channel makes a massive difference) which is overkill...have fun deciding!! For multichannel amplification, have a look at ATI. I use the N-core version which uses a traditional linear power supply, so very reliable, no switch-mode noise, and darn heavy.

My house has a large great room : 35’ x 20’ x 13’-9” (h). On the far (from the kitchen) short wall there is an 85” Sony. When I built the house 12 years ago, the room had a Yamaha receiver (for ease of use for those who are not me) that had just gotten too outdated. I just replaced it with an Anthem MRX 740-8k receiver a couple of weeks ago. What a dramatic upgrade in sound. Voice legibility is really excellent. If per chance you have a receiver in mind, this is one to consider. I will probably at some point add 3 channels of new power amp(s) and use the Anthem’s in-unit power for my surround channels (you can switch like that on this model).
The first night I had it hooked up, I calibrated it to my speakers and room and got done at about midnight. Time for a little test-drive. I searched my movie channels and found “Wednesday”, a cute series based on the Adams Family. It all sounded good, very clear voices and the low level eerie noises popped out from all directions. Enough of that, I went and found Terminator 2. I put it on and skipped around a bit and it was sounding good, but okay…. And then I got to the point where they were telling the story of “when the machines first took over.” And then there it happened: the nuclear explosion!!!! 2 people in remote bedrooms awoke with screams!!! At that volume everything was no less crisp than anything else at lower (even high, but not as high) volumes. Needless to say, power is not a compromise. I am very happy with the new Anthem and highly recommend it.
