Happy Birthday Dennis!

I’ve just made payment for the SET in mocha white. (he isn’t making any PSEs for the time being)

Dennis also recommended Tungsol KT-170 which I haven’t read much about it here but I’m getting some and I’ll see how it goes. I think these tubes just got released recently too.

Default Big new developments at the Toy Shop....

Dennis is putting the finishing touches on a new 300B amplifier using the beautiful US made Western Electric 300B tube that retails for $1500 and according to Dennis, and I quote, "When you hear this amp, you're going to agree this needs to be in the stable forever."

He is planning on offering them in the $4000 range, INCLUDING a set of the new WE 300Bs.

We are planning on having a big listening day at the Toy Shop next week. I'll post some listening impressions once I've had a chance to lay my ears on them.....

More from Dennis:

“The new Inspire 300 B amplifier is ground up build specifically for 300 B tubes and more specifically for the new Western Electric 300 B triodes
Once you listen to the sound .... well good luck listening to anything else. It’s that strong. I have designed this amplifier to the specific Western Electric specs with 350 V on the anode -62 volts grid with 6 W output...
I’ve run these tubes now in comparison to three other brands and there is no comparison, Western Electric’s are head and shoulders above the field.”

I’m Really excited to hear this beauty. I keep hinting he should pick up the pair of $10k NOS WE 300Bs from Tube Depot. No response. [emoji848]

He sent me a pic of those tubes and the amp the other night. I must resist.

Looks great. Looking forward to reading your impressions of how it sounds.

Glad I need more than 6 wpc. I won't be tempted to buy one.

Sorry to hear about the fate of the PSE. I love mine. I wouldn't trade my PSE even up for any of his other amps.

As to the KT170, I'm going to wait to see how those work out. Their early KT150s weren't that reliable. Given that and how it took them quite a while to get these through testing. I do like both the Tung sol KT120 and KT150 in my Inspire amps. I find the KT120 to be an under appreciated tube. They are used in some expensive, highly-rated amps, but rarely get much good press in the online forums.
