The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra
Selections presented by JBL, a long time Contributor as a founder of the Music Center of Los Angeles. A super recording and very nice selection of works conducted by Zubin Mehta.
London Records Special Production Divisions for JBL - CSL 1010 (1977)

Default Grieg & Schumann: Piano Concerto

Going back to a favorite...

Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16
Schumann: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54
Radu Lupu (piano)
London Symphony Orchestra, André Previn

Very fresh interpretations of these warhorses. The sound from the Decca Legends 96 kHz, 24-bit remastering is superb.

Selected by Presto Classical as one its "25 Greatest Recordings" from the 1970s.

Default Bruckner: Symphony No. 9

I saw this recommended in the New York Times and recall hearing the piece played by the CSO live at Orchestra Hall in 2009, I jumped at the chance of hearing Bruckner's ninth on this recording.

Based on a first hearing, my impression is that I liked the performance, but the recording does not have the dynamic range to allow me to fully enjoy it. It's a little frustrating. Stick with VPO and Giulini on DG.
Heard this again today and my impression this time around was much better. My wife is home so had the volume turned down - I wonder if that was the difference .

Has anyone noticed we’re not that far away from 20,000 posts in this thread? I think we should celebrate with a party at Julian’s house - or at least raise a glass in his honor.
