This is cheaper than the MC312/C2700 combo but it has more power and a built in EQ.

Sure McIntosh as a whole is WAY more expensive than it used to be (My C47 was only $4000 and my MC302 was $5500 for example) but the MA12000 is definitely priced similarly to all the other comparable contemporary stuff.

That said there are cheaper alternatives like the MA5300 which in all honesty sounds just as good as any other McIntosh it's just smaller.

One of my favorite things about Mac is that at least in my opinion all McIntosh sounds awesome and the only thing you get by paying more is more power and more features not more quality.

Even the cheapest McIntosh amp is still a true high end component both in sound and build quality.
I have a MA5200 in my bedroom system and it sounds great driving a pair of Dynaudio Focus 160 speakers.

I Love the Focus 160s. I also have a pair and I've been using them as my main speakers for years with my MC302 and C47. I would love to upgrade to floor standers but I use them at my desk so I can't really go any bigger. I have them paired with a Dynaudio BM14SII which has a 300w amp goes down to 18hz so I'm not really sure I would get all that much more improvement even if I did upgrade to some big floor standers.

They're great little speakers that's for sure.

It always feels wrong that my speakers are the cheapest part of my system but they are so good it's hard to justify upgrading.

Anyone get one of these yet? If so, impressions and pics?

When most of the world is in dire straits, McIntosh can not seem to stop coming out with one new product after another. Business must be good for them now that folk are staying home and music as food for the soul has never been more important.

Now I want to sell my MA8900 and get this instead!
I had a nice chat with their VP of operations Tim Deis, and he told me that this is the busiest they've ever been... I've heard the same from John Quick at dCS .. the high end audio business is strong because more and more people are HOME!

Can’t wait to get settled into a new home! 2020 has TRULY sucked.
Only pieces left....a house to live in and a pair of Bryston Model T’s from Mr. Ivan.

Default McIntosh MA12000

I see you purchased an MC1502 as well! Don’t let that MA12000 crush it!

New McIntosh MA12000 | Relaxed listening with B&W 802 D3

Not my idea of a good demo/room/speaker setup (one can hear it is very reflective and bright) but listening "through all that" one can get an idea of what the MC12000 looks and sort of sounds like. Midrange is very promising. I would love to hear it under more optimal conditions.
