I had the same reservations, in the end, the iPad and iPhone solved the issue as it's still touch control over the Sooloos. Especially iPad. As can be seen, I left the Sooloos on the table top. Don't let this be a stopper. It's really an amazing piece of gear!

That is an issue for me too. What is the purpose of having a great touchscreen interface if you have to use your iPod or iPhone to control it because it sits across the room. I would just spend less money on another unit. (And one that handles 24/176 and 24/192 files)

Jerry,
Can you check if you can back up the discs to a normal HD or NAS. AFAIK you can not as the cds are encrypted in the Sooloos so the only way to back up again is use another twin store. thanks howie p.s. asked wifey if I could get a music server. She said "how much?" which is already a good start! |

There are several ways to backup the files on a Sooloos. The Sooloos "Backup" is an encrypted backup which saves all the meta data and is only usable on a Sooloos system. There is also a backup function called "Export". Exporting from the Sooloos will give you a copy of the files in native format (usually FLAC) with just album and song titles from meta data. These exported files are NOT encrypted and will play on anything. You can also export Sooloos files at a lower bitrate MP3 or AAC, these files can be used with an iPod or other MP3 player.

So, join in the Sooloos club. You are already member of this forum, the SF Stradivari Club and now .... about to join the Meridian Sooloos Club! Wow! Hmmm, does that also mean you will be re-joining the Meridian family again?
