Denon POA 1500
Anyone knows how much for a good working condition is worth? Thanks.

Mike.......The Denon POA-1500 is a 30 year old amplifier. A quick search shows the amp's value around $350.00 in good condition.

Rudy.......Thanks.
I am kind of curious what Mike is thinking about doing with a Denon POA-1500 stereo amplifier. Back in the day the POA-1500 was usually driven by the Denon PRA-1000 preamplifier. The pair would make a nice vintage system. Both components together can probably be had for under $650.00. The pair would make a nice vintage system.

This gear was of the same calibre as the earlier Denon AV flagships. Robust but certainly no "S" series. I don't see it as a remarkable collectible....

I agree with you on the collectible value on the POA-1500 and PRA-1000 since there are plenty around. But early Denon real Class A amp models POA-3000, POA-3000Z, and POA300RG with the matching pre models PRA-2000, PRA-2000Z and PRA-2000RG are highly collectible and getting rarer as days goes by. The step above is POA-8000 and PRA-6000 which won many accolades in Japan are extremely rare in our side of the world. These are Real Class A Push Pull Amps and nothing like the "Optical Class A" that Denon diluted the Class A name later alone the line. But ultimately, it would be the S1 (POA-S1, PRA-S1, DCD-S1, DP-S1, DA-S1 and the integrated pma-s1) stuff that really holds the collectible value for Denon since there are not so many produced or sold around the world.

Steve,
I think S1 stack looks awesome! I know a couple people (one from the Washington state and the other in Virginia) who owns some S1 but they are holding onto them and they are 120V versions. I guess there are more in the Japan and Asia but I have also seem a few 240V versions in Europe. Denon was a real inventor in Japanese Hifi and it's a shame they stops playing in the high end field. I am not sure about the link between the POA-S1 and the M-8000 but Denon was very creative with POA-S1. I think most Accuphase amp shares the MOSFET driver with BJT output as in Denon. Early Denon uses mostly BJT in the amps but later Denon (POA-3000RG and POA-S1) has changed to MOSFET driver with BJT output. I happen to take notice that early Accuphase amp uses BJT driver and BJT output devices and they later changed to MOSFET driver with BJT outputs (I think starting from the M-2000?). May be this design change happens to Accuphase and Denon around the same time. I am not really sure but it will be interesting. I am pretty sure about one thing - Denon is expert at Amplifier Design since Day one and the early POA-8000 schematics is a prove. Kenwood and Accuphase is also legendary in the amplifier design but I am not sure who tops of whom. Now, I am thinking this a bit too hard.

James... I still have my POA-S10 monoblocks. Not S1 by any standard but not bad with a 4 Ohm load.... I upgraded the power cord to Furutech & used them for surrounds for awhile but now they are boxed in storage. They are the 230-240v version. I sometimes wonder if I should hang onto them or not...
