---Seems to be the norm with these excellent Kuro plasmas.
...And comin' from their front face as well. * Kuros are very unique in their construction and plasma pixels implementation; that's why they are the very best. It is expensive to build them like this today (no one does it). I would simply keep enjoying it, and use well positioned fans (if you don't mind too much; I do myself during the summer months with my 60" Samsung plasma). And during the winter, you have your block heather; no need to turn on the house heat. >> Be careful, don't put any flammable stuff near by; like gas containers , light paper decorations (fake flowers), curtains, etc. Last edited by LordoftheRingsEE; 09-17-2012 at 05:38 PM. |

not to jump off track...a little over a year ago the Kuro had a power supply failure, (the set was purchased new in early 2008)
I figured I'd simply get a shiny new 3D LCD and be done with it..... Got the new LCD, had it for a few days...it was nice, but wasn't in the same league as the Kuro. Back went the LCD, got the Kuro fixed ($$$) but worth every penny to have black-levels back. With any luck I'll get a couple more years out of it. Maybe next time around I'll be able to replace the Kuro with a set that can make black levels. |

I've been using a 151fd for almost 3 years now, the last 6 months since I moved it's been wall mounted. I was curious as to the comments of the OP of heat so I felt up the TV today (sounds naughty), but I didn't notice anything abnormally hot. Just warm like any other TV would be (knock on wood). Love this TV!

I have a PRO-111FD, and note that when it's on I can feel heat from it when I get within 3 feet or so. This is from the front. It's about the same when I put my hand near the top vents. I've never put my hand on the set directly, so I wouldn't comment on how hot to the touch it may be right now.
There doesn't appear to be anything better overall out there TV-wise, though some sets may be better in specific areas (such as the Elites having better absolute black levels, perhaps). Even the Panasonic VT series came up short to it in some aspects (see the review in the October Home Theater magazine), though that might be the way to go if replacing a Kuro. I plan to enjoy my Kuro as long as possible, and replace it only when necessary. Heat ultimately isn't a big issue as I can use a fan or the AC if needed. |
