Not a stupid question. There aren’t any here. I am sorry I implied that. My OMG was more of a ‘here we go again’ as the issue of IEC fittings has come up quite a few times and there never seems to be a good answer. Engineering specs always say the female and male portions should fit perfectly but it seems highly dependent on the chord and the equipment and the location. There are no ‘pat’ answers. IMHO if you are otherwise happy with your power chord don’t go hunting for better fitting chords. It could be an expensive life long endeavor. Try prying a toothpick into the socket to better wedge the chord in. Try supporting the chord somehow - from underneath, with zip ties from above etc. Good luck

Just get a Furutech NCF booster and be very happy you did.

Haha! Thanks CR. I'll assume I'm not alone in this minor but noticeable gripe then. Hadn't thought of wedging it but I do that as a fix with ill fitting wood screws when no other solution is handy
Oddeophile: The issue is at the IEC connector in the sub's amp, not the wall socket. I'm using the JLA supplied power cord which seems to be a loose fit in the receptacle on both my units. I have no complaints with the performance apart from the relatively insecure fitment of the supplied cord. I probably would have suffered this as a minor inconvenience but the topic came up in this section so I asked. Last edited by Pampero; 06-07-2018 at 01:38 PM. |

Exactly. Use the booster at the IEC! That’s where it’s Next used and the most beneficial. Not only perfect support but also the benefits of the NCF technology.
I have mine all places on IEC connections as they drop a bit with the heavy Shunyata Sigma cords. My noise floor dropped to jet black. Worth the investment. |

Power cord for subwoofer
BTW I’ve only had mine a few days. The improvements were immediate and easily discerned.
I’d check out the reviews and customer commentaries on the net as a starting point. Of course judge for yourself. Perhaps there’s a reason Furutech can’t keep them in stock? I couldn’t afford the couple I have but worst case was I’d send back if I couldn’t hear any differences. They’re not going back! I just have to figure how to pay for them at this point. |

Thanks! I'm skeptical of the bang /buck ratio of certain tweaks. My system is already very quiet on it's dedicated panel but I have to say your enthusiasm is compelling.

If you have feed your JLs with the Shunyata Noise Reduction power cords like Venom or Delta, did feel any noise reduction or more enjoyable presentations ?

I use WyWires power cords and ICs, mostly the top of the line Diamonds (model name, not material). For my e-110 subs, I asked Alex of WyWires if the Diamonds were needed and he said no, that they primarily help the mids and highs, while the next level down, the Platinum, would be sufficient. I had already been using a pair of Platinum power cords and received a used pair of ICs today and he was right.

Nothing less than 10 awg from the main breaker to the sub itself will do for a sub of this quality. I recommend Furutech cables specifically the Furutech FP-S55N if you like to roll your own.
