Default Meridian System - Complete Finally!!!

Well, its past midnight and my Meridian STEREO system is finally complete.

The Lehmann Black Cube SE Decade was delivered, 2 beautiful boxes of same dimensions but what a difference it is from its "younger brethren", the "SE". Its as though a layer of veil have been lifted and music seem to flow so much smoother than before as it took the system to another level!

I have never been crazy for vinyl BUT now I think I am MADLY in love. Guess tomorrow, I might just go to town and buy a few more NEW LPs to try out this new COMPLETE TT system!

I had an entire week listening to the Sooloos C15 & Twinstore (plus playing with the various details the combo offer) BUT what really sets my heart a-flutter is the way the music came thru. So very smooth with so much detail with nary a digital glare, it like as though I am listening to "vinyl".

If I think I have heard the best of what I had before, I must really give myself a kick cause this is one system I could keep listening without a single thought of anything at all. Just closing my eyes and enjoying the pleasure it gives!

Is this going to be the end of my upgrade? I think so, for STEREO that is! Now, I am seriously wondering if I should really go out and buy the latest Meridian 861v6 Processor and coupled that to 3 more DSP8000 speakers to make it an all 5 channel system!

More so the attractive offer from local dealer in giving me a good discount for this purchase! Yes, its going to cost me an arm (and probably a leg too) but I am seriously thinking if I have and should enjoy the TOTAL pleasure of having it all - a fantastic STEREO system (Radio, Vinyl, Redbook CD and scale down movie experience) or able to savor the FULL HT experience that I have never tasted from the Blurays, DVD-A and SACD's.

Its really giving me a headache just thinking of all these. Of course, if ever I had the guts, I would just walk out and sign that off tomorrow! Luckily, I still have ONE MAJOR CONCERN and thats SPACE. My humble small home would never permit me to have this ... for now! So, dream on.

Yet I am as satisfied cause the pleasure is all mine - for once, I just plonk down whatever medium I want and its SIMPLY MUSIC! Nothing more .... just enjoy!

I have attached 3 pictures I took with the iPhone. Of course, my dealer took a bunch and when he sent them over, I would share them. I hope the 3 would suffice, for now at least.

Oh, the dealer injected, using a syringe - some fluid into the arm "trough". I think its a form of silicon which is suppose to "dampen" the arm. Whatever it is, to me, its giving me music. The only worry? How to change and when to change/add this fluid ... anyway, he just tell me its a call away! Ok, thats service.

The second picture showed the Shunyata Hydra 4 sitting on top of the Sooloos Twinstore (2Tb x 2). Simple plain but beautiful!

The last picture of the complete system. Spot the new Apple TV, if you can "seated" between the Lehmann Black Cube SE Decade Power and Phono Stage.

Thats all guys! I am back to enjoying my system and its going to be thru the night! Which to me, its still young!

Cheers!

So beautiful & sparking clean set up. Enjoy my friend --

In regards to the silicon 'goo' -- you should never have to replace it or add to it once satisfied with the effect it has on the dampening. The 'goo' won't harden over time.

However, saying all that; I see yours is not covered when not inuse -- so, it could accumulate dust particles, etc., that over time could interfere with the dampening as the arm moves over it (outer to inner record tracking) & thus, maybe require one to remove the old silicon and replenish -- but, that will be years down the road.

Again, perfection!!!

You should be good for 12 months, or 10K miles

Beautiful Jerry!

Jerry ... Congratulations on a truly marvelous set up! As to adding 3 more speakers for HT, let me share my experience. I started 90% HT, have a dedicated basement theater, and even went from 5.1 to 7.2 in the quest for "more." But once I added the Wilson speakers and BAT preamp and amp I switched to 90% music. And guess what? That is where the "more" was hiding all along.

If I am accurately interpreting your pics, you have a small area that is primarily a living space (a most excellent looking one by the way). If the typical number of watchers of HT is one or two at a time you can get most of the movie experience right where you sit for music. I say "most" because, of course, you will not shake the room when the pod emerges in War of the Worlds or have Ironman seem to fly through the room.

Only you can decide if those elements are worth the "cost" and the "pain." The cost will be high because you want to match the world class gear you already have. Then you will want a subwoofer of similar quality. The pain will be taming a small room when you are trying to achieve movie theater bass effects. You will end up having to heavily treat the room to keep the sound from being muddy. I get away with it in the basement because my wife does not have to look at what she calls my "cave." You will also have a center channel placement issue because it needs to go right where your gear is now. If there are only one or two watchers sitting in the sweet spot, the center channel will not add much at all.

Now, in the interest of full disclosure - I am trying to have a great HT and a great 2 channel room in the same place. That is how I learned of the problems stated above. But if I ran my household, I would have a separate 2 channel room that looks like yours.
