I am very impressed with how the K-05x arrived. It was quadruple boxed. I think it shipped from California triple boxed. Then my dealer placed it one of their boxes and delivered it yesterday. I hooked up the k-05x. It worked like a charm. But one thing which I am not happy with is the fact that the remote cannot be used to turn the player on or off (put it in stand by) nor does the Setup button work. Those two buttons have been disabled for the K-05× but I gather will work for other models. It is funny what you get for $8,500. :-)

Strangely, the Esoteric remote seems to be most notable for what it DOESN'T do in many reviews and forum thread comments. I have the 3 and the remote Power button does not work for it; not sure about Setup. My preference is to use the buttons on the face of the unit. I only listen to entire CDs, so after set-up, the only two I've pressed are 'tray open' and 'play'.

My only complaint so far -- once, I put a cd in upside down, then pushed 'play'. After the tray closed and it thought a little while, it read 'no disc'. But there was a disc. For a unit of this level of sophistication, I think it should say 'hey moron, turn it over'.

it surprised me as well Remote should do much more for such a high-end unit. Had read Dan's K-03 review so was not too surprised although still disappointed remote does not do much. I also place CD upside down by mistake and was also surprise by result
