Default Unilet to host the exclusive UK launch of three new PMC loudspeakers at its open day

Unilet to host the exclusive UK launch of three new PMC loudspeakers at its open day
On Saturday 18th September, New Malden based Unilet Sound & Vision will throw open its doors and host the unveiling of the new PMC TB2i Signature, FB1i Signature and AML2 active monitors, as part of its second open day of the summer.

Following the huge success of the summer Xpo event held in July, Unilet has teamed up with PMC and Bryston electronics, to run a second day which will focus on the achievements of this most innovative of British loudspeaker manufacturers. Peter Thomas, founder of PMC, will be on hand throughout the day to talk about and demonstrate the three new products and the recently launched Fact 3 and Fact 8 models.

In addition to launching the TB2i Signature and FB1i Signature domestic loudspeakers, the latest professional active studio monitors, the AML2 will be demonstrated in a 5.1 configuration as part of a thrilling 3D TV experience. Used by the likes of Stevie Wonder and "T-Bone" Burnett, songwriter, musician and producer of Counting Crows, Tony Bennett, k.d. lang, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, the AML2 is a development of the original AML1 which has been acclaimed as one of the best compact active loudspeakers available.

For those who desire something a little larger, there will be hourly demonstrations of the no-compromise BB5 XBD reference loudspeakers, which stand over two metres tall and weigh 136kg each. The £58,000, 10 kilowatt BB5 XBD-Active, which employs Bryston’s heavily modified ultra low distortion SST² Power amplifiers, are used by the BBC at its Maida Vale studios; by Prince in his personal studio; by Deutsche Grammophon; at the UK’s leading mastering facility, Metropolis Studios; and in the production of many Hollywood film scores e.g. Mission Impossible, Iron Man 2, Die Another Day, Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean.

In a, not to be missed, presentation at 12noon and repeated at 3pm, Peter will use the BB5 XBD system as the centre piece of his talk about his time as a BBC engineer and the founding and development of the PMC. Very few people get the chance to hear the sound of an album as it is heard in the studio and to compare it with the commercial CD release. But this is exactly what PMC will be presenting, with tracks taken direct from the studio masters and played on the speakers used in many of the world’s leading recording facilities..

Visitors will also get the chance to sample gourmet foods and taste exclusive wines courtesy of Wimbledon WIne Cellar, voted the UK’s Best Small Independent Merchant at the International Wine Challenge; whilst they peruse the exhibition of rare rock photographs from leading photographer, Ross Halfin.

Running throughout the day will be a 20% discount on all PMC/ Bryston products and a competition with prizes including PMC themed goody bags and, for one lucky winner, the money-can’t-buy first prize of a personal guided tour of Metropolis Studios in London. As Europe’s largest and most successful independent recording and production facility, Metropolis has played host to some of the biggest names in the music business, including Queen,Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams and many more. Accompanied by staff from Unilet and PMC, the winner will be shown round the recording and mastering facilities, by the world’s leading recording engineers, and will get a chance to hear various PMC speakers in action and see a demonstration of the Paradigm 1/2 speed vinyl cutting process.

The Unilet/ PMC open day, runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 18th September at 35 High Street, New Malden, KT3 4BY. More details can be found at Unilet Sound & Vision - South West London's Finest Hi Fi and Home Cinema Shop! and PMC Ltd

This store is awesome... They've got this wall with what looks like 100 pairs of speakers and a switch to hear all of them.

Does not look like the "Single Speaker Room" praised in audio stores in GB and throughout the world....
