Here you go Philippe :
Stereo et Image, Sept 2010 : This is why I like HiFi journals : discovering some tricks. You'll notice that these are Ikea pillows and the gentleman did not even remove the bar code tags Here is a comment from Jean Hiraga : " Au plafond, au centre et dans l'axe longitudinal, des coussins réduisent les reflexions croisées, néfastes à la qualité du relief stéreophonique. Un traitement simple mais efficace" "A simple yet efficient treatment". I could not agree more. They are great absorbers.

We should talk by phone on this subject because there are so many improvements I can't write down all of them. But yes, the stereo image improved a LOT !

I never saw all your equipment in one wide angle shot I agree with Ivan. I find that a nice piece of jewelry works like a charm to put a smile on my wife's face. |

My problem is that my wife buys her jewels by herself and usually does not like what I buy her !

Jerome, you can buy bevel edged acoustic panels in the color (or close) to your existing walls. When mounted they almost disappear, especially on ceilings. I love whimsy, but you may find panels designed for the job to be more effective. Also, a couple of tube traps (ASC) or corner cubes (GIK) will also do wonders for bass, the stereo image, and mid-range clarity.
Remember, ART panels (GIK) can have pictures of the kids on them. |

I know that there are aesthetic solutions to room tratment and I know that I have been a bit lazy by selecting pillows instead of panels. I just don't want to take the time to choose and install all the Art panels I would need in my room. Set up of pannels on inclined walls is not very easy, even if it is not too complicated and I have fun selecting and placing pillows. Moreover, I own 6 GIK panels and among them I have 2 very thick ones ( for bass absorption ) and 2 art panels. Honestly, when you send a bass signal to a thick pillow and place your ears behind the pillow, you can hear how much it absorbs the sound. Pillows have an other big advantage : because of their small size, they create diffusion too on the surfaces between them. Audio is just a hobby for me. I take measures all the time during my work so I'm not ready to take measures in my audio room : but my ears don't lie to me. Pillows are extremely effective. I don't say that they are aesthetic. I know that many people here will find this awful (and my wife found this too but now she is getting used to them) but really.....I don't care !
