It's great, isn't it?
A real gem.
It's indeed very well recorded, especially the harpsichord.
Streaming it now.

A birthday present from me to me[emoji41], and a pretty nice one. This is an excellent recording with very nice performances.

As he's hot in this thread for the moment, I decided to play some more Dall'Abaco:

Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco - Concerti à più Istrumenti Opera Quinta
Il Templo Armonico - Orchestra Barocca di Verona, Alberto Rasi
via Qobuz

Not quite the quality of the albums posted above but still an entertaining listen.

Boccherini - Cello Concertos - Sinfonias
Tafelmusik, Jean Lamon
Anner Bylsma, violoncello

I simply love these beautiful and lighthearted compositions.

A classic recording of this opera, recommended by Gramophone as one of the 100 Greatest Recordings ("The sense of struggle and the climb from darkness into light emerge miraculously from every perfectly judged bar"). The recorded sound is excellent. A great bargain. Recommended!
Played this again today. The sense of drama in the Act 2 dungeon scene when the distant trumpet-call is heard is remarkable.

Received this LP today. Phenomenal playing, pretty good sound, but noisy surfaces. I requested a refund since it doesn't live up to the "near mint" designation.

After playing the full opera, I wanted more of this music so I turned to...

Beethoven:
The Ruins of Athens Overture, Op. 113
Coriolan Overture, Op. 62
Leonore Overture No. 1, Op. 138
Leonore Overture No. 2, Op. 72a
Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72b
Egmont Overture, Op. 84
The Creatures of Prometheus Overture, Op. 43
Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Nikolaus Harnoncourt

These are very satisfying performances, vibrant and full of urgency. The brass and the timpani shine and the excellent recording captures it all in its full glory. The three Leonore overture are played consecutively allowing me to appreciate the process behind the creation of this music.
