F.D.A. Clears Path for Hearing Aids to Be Sold Over the Counter

NYT 8/16/22 Finally. " In 2016, a proposal for the F.D.A. to approve over-the-counter hearing aids for adults with mild to moderate hearing was released in a report by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine. Congress approved the legislation and President Trump signed it into law." In 2017, I believe. "The F.D.A.’s final rule takes effect in 60 days. Industry representatives say device makers are largely ready to launch new products, though some may need time to update labeling and packaging or to comply with technical details in the rule. The hearing aid change eliminates the requirement to see an audiologist for a hearing examination and fitting, a process not often covered by insurance. Interesting news to say the least. However, we're a bunch of nutty audiophiles here and I can't think of one single hearing aid company that manufactures anything close to an audiophile quality hearing aid.
You can save a boatload of money and just use the AirPod Pro's in transparency mode for improved voice intelligibility. I'll be picking up a new pair of the AirPod Pro 2's when they are released this fall.

One of the problems with all hearing aids is that they all have a small speaker as a transducer of sound near the microphone so they are susceptible to feedback and distortion but what if the hearing aid did not have a speaker at all but a induction transducer that attaches directly to the ear drum , well enter the ear lens . I am looking offering this technology .
