No, too much voltage with a 6V6G. I'm not sure if Mullard made a 6V6. The American brands are all quite good.

No, but if you don't have a pair try 'em. They are different than the GT's.

Not enough to be concerned about. I got sucked into a flavor of the month tweak.

I was using a Mullard GZ34 with them. I still prefer 6L6's and 6V6's . I got a nice lightly used quad of Shugunag KT66z's and really like them with a TJ Full Music 274A...same as the Sophia but has 4 pins. I got 5 of them the auction site for $225 the seller had them for years. They are no longer produced. |

Isn't a 5Z4GY a low-drop 5Y3?

BTW, Zenith, Delco, Philco etc. 6V6G's are usually RCA or Sylvania but sell for less than the name brand versions. |

Not every tube sounds best driven hard. The bigun's KT88 etc. benefit from a
5AR4 etc. I did use my Pope GT's with a 5Y3/5U4G and they rocked. I put the Shuguang black glass KT66z's back in and they are one *my* favorite tubes. Has anyone tried the big bottle Tung Sol 6L6G? It's a 6L6G in name only it is electrically a 6L6GC rated for higher voltages. |
