It's time to add a tube headphone amp to my main system

Been using the headphone out on my trusty D100 and has sounded good, but I know I can do better.

Have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy my WA7 in my desktop system.

Was giving serious though to the McIntosh MHA250 for the main system, however as I have had such great service and performance from Woo, think I am gonna stick with what I know.

Looking at a new WA2 or WA6SE or possibly the WA22, don't really need the pre-amp though.

Sources will be CD and Flac files through my trusty D100

Suggestions from Woo owners are greatly appreciated.

Default Woo Audio WA6

They’re all great choices. I have a WA22 and it sounds great. A couple of things to keep in mind though:

The WA22 is fully balanced and shines with balanced sources and headphones running balanced. If you don’t use balanced cables on your headphones, you may not get the best from it.

The WA2 is an OTL amp. It likes higher impedance headphones.

The WA6 (and SE) is an all-rounder and will do well with a variety of headphones.

If you can stretch that far, nothing beats the WA5 or WA5-LE.

If you’ve decided on Woo, you can always reach out to Jack Wu or Mike Liang directly, let them know your musical taste, associated equipment and headphones, and budget, and they’ll give you a recommendation.

You might check out the LTA Z10e. I'm pretty sure it's going to be my next headphone amp--all tube, rave reviews on sound quality, ability to drive both e-stats and others, remote control via Apple remote.

(The lack of remote control is a big disappointment for me on many excellent headphone amps. I control my Stax via my preamp, and I can't quite understand how so many are willing to give this up.)

In my case the position of my listening chair puts me within arms length of the volume control knob, so no need for a remote. I realize I may be in the minority on this one though.

I’d be surprised if you’re in the minority. My headphone amps are all within arm’s length as well.
