MC601 vs MC611
It's been awhile since this question has been discussed but I'm wondering if perspectives have changed or there are others with additional input.
With McIntosh's "Trade Up" offer on the table I am considering upgrading my MC601 to MC611. I've read through past post and as always or a least most of the time they vary. In the end, I'll determine for myself but since there has been some time since last discussed I was wondering if anyone has more to say about the differences between the two amps and if it's worth upgrading. Come on guys I know how we like spending other members money.

Read the fine print. Trade up must be equal to or greater than the sum of the trade in value AND MSRP of trade in unit. You won’t be able to go from 601 to 611.

dkorbal, based on the quality of the rest of your system, I believe that an upgrade would be most reasonable. You have an extremely high quality system. You essentially have the most recent and best Mac pre in the 2700. A 611 is therefore quite complementary. In addition, if you upgraded to larger speakers which would be my next step, your 2700/611 combo would be perfect. Purchase the 611 with the thought of a possible speaker upgrade later on. It's a perfect match to your 2700. If you had a lesser pre or DAC I would not recommend the upgrade.

This came directly from the McIntosh website. If you have a good relationship with your local dealer, he should be able to work with you regardless of the trade-up program.
“The MSRP of the new TradeUP unit must be equal to or greater than the sum of both the trade in unit's original MSRP and its trade in value. Customer is responsible for the difference between the MSRP of the new TradeUP unit and the value of the trade in unit.”

I have the C2700 MC611 setup and could not be happier. Of course I would say trade up.
I think the meters are a little larger and a little bluer on the 611's...!

I think you have it right, but you can do a pre-amp and amplifier. Then you could hit the amount.
