Change those things you can, accept those you can't.

Do not care for their U.S. rep. When I tried to order the service manual for my 30yr-old tuner they told me no. But, would be happy to fix whatever is wrong. Yeah.... right. Very few are qualified to work on tuners and they are not one of them. Fortunately, someone who is qualified had the manual and was happy to share.

To add to the list would be:

- Lack of a DSD capable standalone DAC (they are working on though)
- Lack of a DSD compatible USB input for their SACD players
- Original manual pdf downloads, protected perhaps with a serial number
- Only a handful releases of their outstanding SACD samplers

As for the fashionistas...this is the way it is, Accuphase released only one black amp, the E-205B. An amplifier is meant to last a long time, the Accuphase product is designed for function and not appeal to fashions which date. I don't see McIntosh changing their style much either. Please keep in mind the very traditional culture in Japan, small steps.

As for reps, you can wind up good and bad, pity the support in some countries can't match others, the factory just sends back the enquiry to the host distributor. Yes PriceJapan is a very good starting place to obtain pricing for Accuphase, there is the risk if the goods are damaged in transit, it just gets messy.

Accuphase know amplifiers like the back of their hand, they could produce a standalone headphone amp to fill in the bottom end.

One of the reasons why I just don't go ahead and buy from them. The prices are definitely enticing, though.

The cartons from Accuphase are very tough mind. Recent delivery flew ex Japan the 10 hours, plus 2700 Miles on the back of an 18 wheeler on not the greatest highways, and both cartons arrived remarkably intact, bit scuffed on the bottom, but the goods inside were 100%.

Hmmm, I own now since 20 years a lot of Accuphase equipment (C 290, DC 300, C2420, A60, A 100, A70, DP 90/91, DP 510 only to mention some) and after all the good expierence with this brand the title of the thread is like if somebody blames german soocer team: "why didn´t you win 8:1 against brazil in the semifinals instead of only 7:1".

Accuphase fit and finish and reliability is record breaking. I had never one issue with my equipments. Even my CD Player DP90/91 works like on the first day. Should I tell you my experiences with some other big High End brands in reliability which I owned or still own. Better not...

The finish of the Accuphase boxes/cabinet is after 20 years better, than the finish of some other brands after 20days.

I could go on for hours...

Best regards and sorry for my comments

Martin

Worthwhile noticing nobody mentioned sound quality / signature as having room for improvement. That omission says a lot. Good sound is the main goal of audio gear. Looks / price / display font size... Are important aspects but still secondary.
