Similar to Ed Vedder's McIntosh / B&W set up at his home, always nice to see the appreciation of fine gear and the attention to detail..

I had been wanting to place some kind of vibration mitigation under my new MC3500's. Recently Wilson came out with their Heavy Pedestal (reds) rated at 75 lbs./pedestal. I checked with my Mac friend and my Wilson friend, both said the new Pedestals would be perfect under the rails of the 3500's. These babies are expensive at $775/pedestal. I also added 3 Standards rated at 25 lbs. under my D1100, previously I had 6 Lights rated at 9 lbs. under it. I sent 3 Lights back to Wilson and will soon place 3 Lights under my new Wilson ActivXO crossover after I have heard the new Pedestals under my 3500's. I now have Wilson Acoustic Diodes under my XVX, a custom made 150 plus pound plinth made by Wilson consisting of X-material and supported by modified Acoustic Diodes under my Thor, and Wilson Pedestals under all my main gear for 2-channel listening. My MVP881 BR player has been returned to Mac. The drawer is stuck. The TV is a new Sony. It was quite a feat to get the Marantz LD player connected to the new Sony but we obviously accomplished it. My dealer is a wizard. The sonics: I don't have words to describe them. You folks that think Mac has a warm laid back sound lacking in resolution need to listen to my system. The tremendous speed and clarity are electric without a trace of hardness. You have to resist turning it up to ridiculous sound levels, because the sound doesn't change. The XVX simply has no upper limit and my 3500's do. The volume on the D1100 is set at 70%. You couldn't remotely carry on a conversation but it doesn't sound loud, even though the system is at 100 plus dB. The XVX is just loafing. The bass impact is incredible but the soft bass decay/notes must be heard to be appreciated. I've never heard anything like it.

This is an incredible system. Curious if you ever considered Silent Running Audio (SRA) platforms which might lead to not needing any additional footers/pedestals. I keep going back and forth internally of keeping my Copulare Tonbasen amp stands or changing to the SRAs.

Glad you are enjoying music with your McIntosh equipment. It’s gorgeous.

Still setting up after my move. Enjoy.
