The XA160 would be a continuous 160 Class A running all the time. That’s going to be HOT!
I asked this question due to the uncertainty of my pending tube amp order which has been delayed several times.

As a backup I found an incredible deal on a pair of Zesto Audio Eros 300 pure class A mono's. They consume 348 watts at idle and 360 watts full out. I know the Pass Labs XA models also consume a lot of watts at idle so the comparison is likely valid.

I'm sure for my location (deep south) this simply would not work. It's hot enough in the summer, I don't need to add an oven to my room as well.

I totally agree. This said, some do it anyway …

I would like the X600.8s. But they are Class A for the first 50 watts I believe. Even that would be too hot for me …. The 260.8s are just perfect. This said, I just finished trying some EMM MTRX monos. They are 1000w with our Magico M3s and run cooler than the Pass 260s. Awesome sound!

Compared to how things could be, it's nice to have these "good" problems to sort through.

I just checked out those EMM Labs amps. Wow!! They're beastly!

Are you considering them in earnest?

Yes I’m thinking seriously about them. My dealer is trying to get them to remove the red off light. I recently did a home eval with them - https://www.audioaficionado.org/show...ighlight=MTRX2

I remember that thread and just posted there. Don't want to derail this one any further.
