Which LM amps did you listen to? It's hard to say if you will be a candidate, but it's certainly worth your effort to seek out a listen. Congrats on the 218! What else did you cobble along with it?

The set up: SF Guarneri Homage ClearAudio Concept Musical Surroundings Nova II REL T5 Sub LM 218 IA I'm interested in live, acoustic, smooth jazz and some classical music. With my current set up I'm starting to really enjoy vocals too. Mostly, I want to be connected to the music emotionally. I'm not bothered about perfect reproduction. Hope that makes sense! |

I went from the 218 and 518 to the Shindo Montille CV391. Very different sound in my opinion. I really like the LM gear, but the Shindo offers a lot more nuance and detail. I would say the Shindo takes greater care to get the right speakers to match with. I loved my first set of speakers on the LM gear, but they felt a little thin and light with the Shindo. Now, with different speakers, this little Shindo is thunderous when it needs to be.

The difference in the SET vs Push Pull of the Line Magnetics was very obvious when we auditioned them. |

I have not. The CV391 is the only Shindo amp I have heard.
If you want some Shindo sound, just plug in an Aurieges to your LM. I was doing that before going full Shindo. You will see bigger improvements doing that, in my opinion. |

Vortrex, I have used my Monbrison in to my LM211, obviously using a regular line input, as the 211 lacks LINE IN. I was pleased with the results, but of course the 211 VC is in the signal. Which LM's have you tried this with? Curious if it was one that had LINE IN.... |

No line in, I used it with the 218. Not optimal I guess since you essentially have two pre's, but I thought it was much better than the 218 by itself.

Yep, Monbrison sounds quite good in to my 211IA. I would like to try it with a 518IA, with the PRE/LINE IN. The Monbrison easily bested my stand alone phono stage though. In fairness to the latter, it is more of a budget piece at $1200 US.

I wonder what is the voltage for Shindo field coil drivers, nothing on this subject can be found on the internet. Are those low voltage drivers like Western Electric and do they use silicium rectifiers?
As some folks tend to see tungar in favor for better sound, Shindo doesnt use tungar at all? Thanks, Hotz |
