James, that was me.
James, I'm trying to make a decision on some gear and have a few questions... 1) Will the new SP3 have one or two zones and would it be hard to put a second or third zone into that processor. If so, could it be controlled with an ethernet input? I have the Mcintosh MX120 at the moment and run a zone in the HT room and another for distributed audio throughout the home via Mc keypads. 2) Do any of the preamp have a HT passthrough feature? 3) Could I tell a difference between a 14B SST2 and two 7B SST2's? With respect to the bind post size, I have 9mm spades and am wondering if they will fit into the slots on either the 14B or 7B's. 4) Any thoughts on a universal player? 5) For redbook playback and the best possible do you recommend a BCD-1 and BDA-1 combo or is the BCD-1 as a stand alone piece equally as good? 6) How is sound of the 7B SST2's driving a pair of PMC EB1i's? I'm thinking of using your BCD-1 into the SP3 and onto the mono's in the months ahead. Currently I use an all McIntosh setup. Though I like the warm and inviting sound, it's a little too laissez-faire on many types of music. Thanks. Dave That was very admirable of you to step up with a message like this one. Your customers, including myself can take further confidence and comfort in what they work hard for and ultimately buy from Bryston.

Hi Dave,
1. One zone. 2. The BP16 is our only preamp with passthrough. 3. All the amps have the same binding posts and will take up to 5/8 inch spades - we have our own custom spades if that helps. 4.Staying away from that one with a 10 foot pole - too many changes too quickly. 5. BCD-1 if redbook playback is you main source of listening. BDA-1 if you see yourself moving to multiple digital inputs. 6. Yes I have heard the 7B's many times on the EB-1's and like most PMC speakers the Bryston/PMC combo is superb. Hope this helps and thanks for your indulgence. Dummy |
