It will become harder and harder to resist Qobuz...

It will be interesting to learn if the dsp engine has been updated. The Audeze Preset for the LCD XC is so good that I have like two different headphones for the price of one. At this point in time I would only consider new headphones if they come with Roon headphone presets.

A change in SQ would imply different format conversion algorithms or up/re sampling filters...indeed...I wonder if this is the case.

1.8 update is FANTASTIC.

Absolutely LOVE the new feel/look/interface. Even the SQ seems to have gone up but that can be my imagination.

ROON has seriously stepped up their game with this one and it was already a fantastic database/music library.

Took a lot longer for Android people (like me) to get the update. Finally got it, but the core is taking forever to download now, they must be swamped! Can't wait to get it going.

I read a statement directly from ROON that 1.8 has no features/changes that effect SQ.

They reiterated their position on improving SQ.

First and foremost, separate your core from your endpoint as the Core is where all the ‘noisy’ processing occurs.

Default New Roon Version 1.8 looks amazing...

I like 1.8 a lot... IMHO, the “Roon user experience” distances itself from other contenders by a substantial margin. It is like the Roon interface has kind of matured, butterfly style. The magazine look certainly contributes to making it feel less like an app and more like an inviting space to browse content.

My only minor gripe would be the exaggerated reduction in size of the waveform bar in order to accommodate portrait mode...I would like to see it a little wider.

Definitely setting a new standard.

It’s all the elegant interface making it “sound even better”. Our senses are tied together that way. “it sounds as good as it looks.’

Yes, Roon prefers the RAAT (Roon advanced audio transport) instead of direct core to dac for SQ.

The community forum must be backed up. I haven't been able to get thru to find out hoe to get more albums to display. Both my laptop and iPad now display many fewer album covers than in 1.7. There must be a way to fix this mess.

I m now able to get to the Community Forum but waiting for a answer as to display more albums on my screens .

Experienced my first 1.8 bug. Artist hyperlinks work, album hyperlinks remain stuck in a loading album screen. Bugs are too be expected...Roon will probably push an update in the not too distant future.
