That's good to hear Tom. Reassuring. Thanks.

Or look at the Aries G1 with twin internal linear power supplies and more connectivity plus wireless capability for $2700. I looked at the U1 Mini and after you added the sBooster external LPS (which voids the warranty) then the prices were almost identical but the G1 still had more functionality.

That tells me it is time for Roon core to leave the comfort of my PC and find residence in a more dedicated environment.
Also consider the SOtM SMS-200 UltaNeo or UltraNeo Special Edition for $1200 and $1500, respectively. The Auralic and Luminary's are excellent no doubt, but as this is a such a rapidly evolving area, spending a bit less for something you may be replacing in a couple years is well worth considering. I'm very happy with mine. Also, it can be upgraded with a clock input if you decide to add an external clock at some point.

The U1 specs already exceed the specs of my two year old Luxman SACD/USB DAC and that is why I don't invest heavy into digital.

It will be no different with the streamer as tomorrow there will be something newer and better.

exactly...

I don't know if Luxman does it, but Accuphase and McIntosh both use a "DAC Card" in their integrated amps and pre-amps so as to make them future proof... and again, if you buy a brand of DAC that uses an FPGA type setup, you are much more likely to not find yourself obsolete too fast.

I've looked at SoTM but they require the power supply to be purchased separately? They offer their own for $500 or I can get a nice LPS from Keces for example but then we are talking nearly the same money as Lumin U1 Mini and the Lumin is a more "interesting" product with their own App/Browser which I personally have no experience with but it seems to be well reviewed?

"The unique and intuitive LUMIN App described as "the most convenient interface in existence" by Tinman"

From MQA to DSD, FLAC to WAV, LUMIN can play all the high-resolution formats you could ever want

Native support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay, giving you access to tens of millions of songs

The unique and intuitive LUMIN App described as "the most convenient interface in existence" by Tinman

LUMIN programme of continuous development that has seen Roon, MQA, and Spotify support added in 2017 alone.

I don't need a streamer that exceeds the specs of my own DAC but my DAC far exceeds the specs of Roon/Tidal/Qobuz Max on Qobuz is 192/24

I buy high res in DSD (really less than 50 albums so far) as high as I can go on my DAC:

(PCM) 384kHz (16, 24, 32bits)
USB input (DSD) : 2.82M, 5.64MHz (1bit)
COAX/OPT 192kHz (16, 20, 24bits)

So hopefully it will keep serving me well for quite some time.
