Be curious to see if anyone else chimes in here.

I guess HS LINK may not work on all 8-PIN of that RJ45
Connecters. The differences to CAT cable might be on pins that are not utilized.

Toga
And I am the guy who ran Diamond as HS LINK.

A guy I'm buying a Shunyata "Delta Ethernet" cable (actually 2 cables) for his Accuphase system is selling me one of them, as he's replacing them with the higher end Shunyata "Alpha" ethernet cable.. he said it worked flawlessly for 2+ years.. Cat8 wiring.

I sold DP900 long ago. But still keep Diamond Ethernet for future use with network streamer.

Once and for all:
The HS-Link Cable is a standard Cat 5 cable.

It says the opposite under "caution". It is an exclusively designed cable not to be used for any other purpose.

Why would Accuphase pass on charging you $300 for their own cable?

Good find, is there any mention of a minimum cable length maybe? But yeah, if it looks, smells and tastes like something .. it usually is.

I guess Accuphase merely stated their cables are designed for the Link and not for other purposes. They are right. It doesn’t specifically rule out using other Cat6 cables in its place.

Kinda like the dolphins and porpoises corollary.

Ivan has already shown that the HS-Link cable is not wired the same as a standard CAT cable. The green info sheet posted above has a "caution" section warning against using HS-Link cable anywhere else as equipment damage can occur.

So putting those two facts together, it should be clear that the HS-LINK is wired differently and nothing but that "kind" of a cable with the same pinout should be used in its place. If others make a specific HS-Link cable, then it should be fine but if something happens... I am sure that will not be covered by warranty.

Why risk a $25k device over a silly cable?

Definitely works with my Telegartner Cat 7 patch cable and Audioquest Diamond cable, both of which sound better than the Accuphase supplied cable.
