You can find quality NOS Mullard 12AX7's but you will have to pay dearly for them. They are around $400 a pair at Tube Depot.

In my set up I am using vintage RCA green dimpled tops with Telefunken 12Au7’s; Baldwin 6SN7’s in position 1 & 4 and Brown Base Sylvania WGT’s in 3 & 4 position. My comparison would be a remembrance of my CJ phono and my current Pass XP-15 SS pre.

Like the idea of mixing two different type 6SN7s. While I'm running a quad of Sylvania N7s myself in my own SLP98, I do recall Marc (former Cary designer) telling me to mix and blend like you have. Do the Baldwins smooth it some?
