ET5 update: Stock Sovtek 6922 is Out & Gold Lion E88CC/6922 is in ...
After a week straight of breaking in my ET5 with the stock Sovtek tube, I just put in the Gold Lion 6922 from BNB Tubes (thanks Dan!). I had ordered an EAT Red tube damper/cooler from MusicDirect to go with it. I had to muscle the Gold Lion E88CC/6922 in the socket, it was very tight. Granted it has only been in for a few minutes but WOW what a difference. Better all around. I'll let it burn in tonight and when I come home from work, play DJ and see what happens. I'm sure I'll need a few days (50-100 hours break in on the tube) to get a good sense of what's going on. The first song I cranked up was Peter White's "Ramon's Revenge" (thanks Ivan - awesome album) - Beautiful

When I would have finished the phase of run in I am going to try the EAT ECC88 and GL +cool damper but I shall have to unsettle the protections of tubes..Cool dampers should reduce in a very significant way the risks of microphony
see the Roy Gregory review with the CT5 http://www.euroaudioteam.com/c2/down...i-fi-d0015.pdf

Seems like the Gold Lion is pretty good, you should like it Rayooo. It's burning in now as I am away from my stereo
The EAT tube already has a non-removable cool damper. I'm working my way up to it. Philippe, Thanks for the links! Joe |

I had the EAT and the Gold lions in my ET-5 and I prefer the Westinghouse 6922 over both of those.
I felt they were both good the westinghouse just sounds more musical to me. |
