The old black ones do sound better than the later grey ones and they are not discontinued, but they are in fact costly.

I'm interested in what these factory cords look like. Every piece of gear I've ever received with a generic.

He uses many different AC power cords. One of them was the two conductor Belden HPN-CPE in black which he soldered directly into the old gear. Later he used separated cords with three conductors, maybe for safety reasons.
He changed the cable long ago. The copper was very pure (dark red compard to other cables), so maybe thats the reason why this cable sounded better than the later generic ones. |

I have tried the Hirakawa grey PCs that came with my Shindos on other components and they sound really good to me.
Do you know where I can buy some ? Thanks ! Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado

I am currently trying some Kubala Sosna power cords, elation and emotion models which are the high end and reference models.
Both have shown To be an uplift on the MSB DAC, more body and weight across the sonic spectrum. Out if curiosity I tried the elation on the Giscours but there was no obvious effect whatsoever. I guess it's true what they say about Shindo and the power cords. I'll be doing some more trialling Monday night and will report any improvements or differences that turn up. Paul

Shindo uses every component, every tube and capacitor, cable etc. to voice his electronics. So if you use them the way he recommend its the best way to achieve his goal of sound. If you have a different approach it may be sound better in your audio today, but that audio may still have some faults and may not be complete Shindo, so you miss his goal in sound reproduction.

Has anyone tried different orientations of the 2 prong grey plugs to see if there is any noticable change in sound or presentation? I know polarity can make a difference on things.

I have tried a few other cables on my Shindo components and for all of them, I always got a more refined and relaxed sound with the stock cable. Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado

After last nights testing session I would have to agree, two top end cables from two different vendors had no effect. They did not degrade the audio experience but they had no improvement whatsoever
