Default Fun with Schiit in my workshop

I’ve been reading and enjoying the various Schiit threads and would just like to express my appreciation for the excellent reviews and commentary from the cadre of Schiit enthusiasts, especially Stephen and Serge, Mike aka Soundmig, and more recently Dan, whose reviewing skills and erudition always raise the bar. In these times of gear with ever more stratospheric prices, it’s nice to see such enthusiasm for a lower priced but high value brand. It reminds me a bit of the early days of brands like AR, KLH, Hafler, etc., and it’s this enthusiasm that encouraged me to buy Mike’s Bifrost a few weeks ago.
Yesterday I was finally able to get the Bifrost set it up in a very basic system in my workshop, consisting of a Squeezebox Touch, a Cambridge Audio Azur 340R AVR, and Martin Logan Motion 2 speakers. I had been using the DAC in the Cambridge, since the Touch DAC leaves a lot to be desired. I hooked the Bifrost to the Touch using a Wireworld Starlight USB cable I had lying around, and used an old set of XLO interconnects to the amp. Frankly I wasn’t expecting much, given the room acoustics and the associated equipment, but I was pleasantly surprised to immediately hear an improvement in overall clarity, especially in the midrange and lower treble. What little bass the speakers produce also became clearer and more solid. Without having an opportunity yet to make any more serious comparisons, I can already say this was money well spent, and will enhance my listening pleasure while puttering around in my shop. In the long-run the Cambridge will be replaced by a vintage Yamaha CA-1010 integrated, and the speakers will probably get upgraded, but I think the Bifrost will be just fine for a while as the digital backbone of this little system.

Looking good Tony. I liked my Bifrost, especially after I got the Über upgrade. I can only imagine the sonic improvement that the MB brings. Enjoy!

Tony.......What a nice workshop sound system. Sounds like the Schiit Audio Bifrost DAC has raised the performance bar substantially.

Congrats, Tony! Looks like you will have a nice musical environment while you work in the shop. My original, 1st gen USB, non-Uber, non-MB Bifrost blew my $1200 Wadia 121 completely into the weeds once it was burned in. I sold it to a friend when I bought Gungnir in 2014 and he is still using and enjoying it.
