Default Schiit Lyr 2

Next up to join the Schiit family in my headphone rack is the Schiit Lyr2 which is making its way to me from the West Coast. I plan on installing a matched set of ECC88/6922 Gold Lions that I found in my storage and forgot all about all these years. I will try them out in my Valhalla 2 tomorrow to see how they stack up against the stock Russian 6N1P. If I find they sound better may have to order another set for the Lyr 2.
Stay tuned.

Very cool. Let us know what you think. Which 'phones do you think you will use with Lyr? IIRC, Lyr was designed for hard-to-drive orthos and planars (?)

Will do Stephen. I will try all the headphones and see which one partners up but I suspect they will all sound good with this little beast of an amp.

In norse mythology, lyr is menglad’s hall in jotunheim.
Lyr 2 is the second generation of lyr.
Both are giants in their own right.
Buying lyr 2 won’t get you an "in" with Odin. And no, it won’t get you into valhalla, either. Yeah, we know, cheap schiit bastards.
But what can you do?

Holy smokes.

Jason just loves to be able to pull out all the stops when designing a piece of gear.

I have a Schiit Lyr which is now on standby duty if anything happens to my Moon 430HA. Wonderful little amp, especially with the tubes I settled on, Siemens E288CC. If you are going to ‘tube-roll’ please install socket savers first...

Having experienced the Class A solid state Asgard 2 and comparing/contrasting to all tube OTL Valhalla 2, the Lyr 2 is an interesting next experiment/journey in my headphone adventures. Lyr 2 is a hybrid design combining MOSFET Class A (seamlessly switching to A/B depending on load) with a tube input stage. Now I will have a good frame or reference what Schiit offers on all fronts in this price range.

Dan, thanks for the link. I do have a pair of Gold Lions waiting for the Lyr 2 to arrive which according to the video was one of his choices. Not that I ever put much faith in most of the stuff one comes across on youtube...

Having spent some time over on the other headphone dedicated forums observing, reading and trying to sort and gauge the experience and knowledge of the contributing masses and endless posts... There are "some" truly knowledgeable and experienced contributors but as far as the masses, one old adage comes to mind. "Opinions are like a&&holes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks."
