To really get the most accurate assessment of Loki's performance, though, you need to listen to some native DSD content. You can purchase and download over 150 titles at Super Hi-Rez at Acoustic Sounds.

If you want a short list of recommendations, I can provide one.
Absolutely!

I am sure you will love it. The options when used together with J.River are very compelling.

Where did you order the iUSBPower from. I was thinking of getting one but could not find an online dealer that sells them.

There are two online dealers in Chicago that are listed on the iFi web site under sales.

Researching this more, JRiver recommends a benchmark of 3000 or above to do real time PCM to DSD conversion. My laptop PC gives me 2384. My music server, cobbled together from old parts, gives me 2540.

You can access the benchmark through Help > Benchmark.

Can someone who is doing this successfully check their JRiver benchmark score as a comparison before I order the Loki. I'll probably get one anyway, but I was hoping to use the PCM to DSD feature that JRiver offers. This would solve an issue I have with my current setup, plus allow me to explore the DSD world.

Thanks.

Music Direct carries ifi now with free shipping.

That retail network was terrible for a company such as AMR. I've had it ordered for a week or so from MD but I think they are still awaiting their 1st shipment. Masterlu should carry ifi too!

Also try not to use 2 cables with the iUSBPower if you don't have to...

Either use a hard USB Male A to Male B adapter (awkward...) or a 6" Belkin from Amazon. I'm hoping the hard adapter works and I'll run the PS hole shot right into the Loki. Then you can focus on the best USB cable going into the PS:

My music server gives a benchmark of about 2500 and has no problem doing real-time PCM to DSD conversion with all music files at all sample rates.
