Jrme,

I don't know. I know the impedance of the GAT will match up fine with Dart amp, but the Burmester amps will not, their amp input impedance is too low. I've been corresponding with some GAT owners and industry professionals, and the view is that the GAT is probably one of the top five preamps in existence at the moment. I don't know what the other four would be, but I wouldn't count the Dart pre out of equation, either. I know that Michael Fremer has one.

The only thing I think you personally can do now to improve things is to get a GAT preamp.

I do want either a GAT or NHB-18NS.

So, you're off the merry-go-round as far as speakers go.

Absolutely!

As for the amps, will the 911 monos better the Dart? I don't know...

Different yes, but better in absolute terms may be a tougher call.

The only thing I would do that you're not presently considering is add a first-class turntable.

Jerome,

I think either would be fine and sound as good in slightly different ways. I do think the 077 is a great match to the Dart amp. I just wonder what other "flavor" I will hear with the GAT or Dart preamp.

WOW - I'd love to see a similar slideshow for the making of the speakers.
