Default Any 2.5B3 Users?

What do you think?
Do like that there is only a single pair of output devices in each channel. Like others, to my ears, the SQ from a single pair of output devices (solid-state or tube) is better. Faster, cleaner, more defined.

Not a hard rule but... often true. At least it had been in the past. Some Krell, Coda and Bryston amps of the lower wattage were noticeably more musical sounding if the speakers presented a good match.

My first foray into the 'high end' included a pair of Bryston's 2B-LP amps back in 1985. Listened to them for 10 years. Wonderful sound, but I would like a bit more power as my thoughts turn to a pair of Maggie 1.7i speakers. 180wpc @ 4-ohm should be fine for my listening.

That's plenty of juice for the 1.7i. One thing I would take into consideration is the price difference between the 2.5 and 3B cubed. There is not a huge gap between them and the 3B cubed is typically more attractive on the preowned market. If you are not concerned or keeping it indefinitely, the 2.5 is plenty.

Only interested in the SQ. 3B3 would be fine, but too many output devices.

Yup. Purchased here through Legend. Great amplifier, powering some smaller Audio Physic speakers, matched with the Bryston 17-cubed preamp.

Compared to the 3B, I think the 2.5 cubed form factor is much more versatile as well, relatively low in height (4"), works well in many set-ups. The 3B has the same height as the 4B3, just truncated in depth. Get the 2.5 cubed or 4 cubed IMO.

Well, I owned a closet full of Bryston amps, literally... and would certainly be happy with any of their amps again today.

Yes, I agree. If more power is needed the 2.5B3 can be bridged to provide 270wpc @ 8 ohm. While not recommended for 4ohm speakers when bridged, my pair of Bryston 2B-LP amps pushed my 4ohm speakers in bridged mode for 10yr without a hint of complaint.
