One thing that really helped with my monitors was to play them as loud as you can stand (92db for me) with some bass-heavy music for half-an-hour. It really seemed to 'loosen up' the woofers in my Duetto's. They may have needed that in order to 'break-in' the surrounds.

I used a pair of Yamaha NS-1000 speakers about 20yr ago. Whenever I listened I always had to run them fairly loudly for 15 or 20 minutes at the start to get the best SQ. After that they were fine until I ended that listening session.

MA352 with Mac XR50s here. Source is Blusound Node and Clearaudio turntable. Love the sound - low end is too much if anything. The XR50's are very inefficient - they move a ton of air, but as a result, have a low-end massively disproportionate to their size. Nice having the 200W per channel of the MA352 to drive them. I'm sure i'm getting some SBIR from speaker placement as well, I dial back the 125hz knob on the EQ.
