Traded in .... !

This TT combo costs my arm and leg. I save my leg by trading in the Accuphase T1000 Tuner and the Thorens TD2030. Still, I need to cough out blood ... money!

BUT I am one happy man cause I really love this combo years ago ... just that I can never bring myself to buying a TT of this level and cost! Now I pluck up enough courage (in my wife's absence) by doing the unthinkable!

Jerry, Feickert should be a serious TT. I exchanged a few emails with "Dr. Feickert" before and had a disagreement with him about his protractor but of course in the end he proved me wrong... The man knows his stuff and all things analog!

Jerry my friend, we all know that statement is not true.

Just because you go does not mean you have to swap gear. You now have a really fine system, just keep reminding yourself that all that other gear out there is just different and not better.

Thanks Serge for the acknowledgement! I had liked his TT since its inception but back then, its just so hard to make the next move cause I always had this thinking that I would not spin vinyls!

Now I do know what I have been missing from a good TT combo! Now to enjoy! But first, how to sell the story!

Cheers!

Jim,

Yes its just different BUT the way the difference is, made one unable to resist the upgrade temptation.

I know I am lying here, cause if I do hear something better, this time would be the cartridge, I would be moved ....... Thats why if I do go to the stores, it will be just the Vinyl and CD shops. Way much safer.

I know I am fickle minded and trigger happy! The only thing that is stopping me is my fear of a good lecture during bedtime! And I am going to get an earful tonight!

Oh well, its just a birthday gift! Legally acceptable as its indeed my birthday next week Tuesday, local time and date! Hope this flies or at least, soften the impact!

Cheers!

My Turntable and I are both getting OLD together. When I bought this Basis Debut V, Vacuum hold-down table new in 2002, I had decided to "bite the bullet" and buy, what I hoped would be, my last turntable.

So Far, So Good. It continues to perform incredibly well and I've not been tempted to even think about a replacement.

Please click on the pictures to view my beautiful turntable in its full black and black glory!

I did buy a VPI Scoutmaster for my "other" system, but that table comes no where close to matching the performance of the Basis.

I am using a Walker Speed Controller on the Basis and I still think WOW every time I play it. This table has proven to be much more than a match for a wide variety of CD and SACD players I've put it up against. The arm is a Graham 2.2 arm, which is almost as old as the turntable itself. (which means it is probably older than some of you Audio Aficionado members.)

I LIKE IT!

P.S. I know that the turntable needs dusting. A couple of months ago, our housekeeper, against strict orders, threats of mayhem, etc. took it upon herself to dust my precious record-player, and bent the cantilever of my Graham Nightingale II cartridge. It currently resides in Japan for a replacement cantilever at a cost of some $1100.00. The cartridge you see in the pictures is a Benz Ruby 2 and it sounds "pretty good", although the Nightingale (actually a product of Immutable Sound - Transfiguration) is appreciably better.

Perhaps new cantilever, new housekeeper . . . What do you think?

Julian.......Your Basis turntable is beautiful. It may actually outlast you. That's the way to buy.

Thanks Dan. It's amazing what a PowerShot S95 can do..

It is a 501 II. Still breaking it in, but I'm really enjoying it. Quite the step up from my old Grado..
