Default Quadraspire SVT Rack Issue

As some of you know, I recently moved from Germany back to the USA.

My Quardaspire SVT rack worked very well on a sturdy granite floor.

Our new house in the US has a typical floor located on the 2nd floor consisting of carpeting and a carpet pad over wood.

With that said, my turntable sits on a HRS Platform resting on the top of the SVT rack.

If you even walk lightly across the floor with a record playing it will most likely skip.

I believe the SVT rack is designed to have movement, correct?

Any suggestions? Not interested in wall mounting.

I would get a new rack for sure. I had Quadraspire in my old system and I donít think mine would have done well on a second floor.

Iíve since upgraded to Adona Racks. In your case I would consider the Reference Rack for the TT. https://www.adonacorporation.com/reference.html

Hereís my set up. There isnít any movement. The center one is the Reference Rack.

Default Quadraspire SVT Rack Issue

I have a similar setup, Quadraspire SVT, HRS platform, and Rega Planar 10 table on a suspended wood floor. For me the combination of the HRS plus the bronze upgrade for the top Quadraspire shelf solved any problems. Having said that, my system is on the ground floor, so the flooring may be better braced. Another option you might consider is swapping the HRS for either a Townshend or Symposium platform, which are both spring-based systems more targeted at turntable isolation from floor-borne vibrations.

Joe may have the right solution, with that springy a floor, you may need more mass/less movement in the rack.

Rob… the SVT rack has no vibration isolation built in. I replaced my SVT feet w/ Stillpoints Ultra SS feet; that together with your HRS platform should be adequate.

I agree with other posts here - if actual skipping, this is no longer a small vibration/noise. It may be that you have set up a tuned resonance between the floor, the stand and the turntable/base. An easy way to change this tuning/resonance is try removing the (heavy) base. Anything change?

Thanks for the comments, I will try a couple tweaks first.

The SVT is not a stable rack IMO. I can easily shift the weight of the rack with minimal force applied from my pinky finger.

Are the risers, and top shelf locks on tightly. Use an Allen wrench for leverage when tightening the top shelf lock. Mine are very stable, just donít offer isolation.
