Joe was awaiting his first post to be approved...now that it has, we should start hearing from him shortly.
Meanwhile, I'll reminisce just a bit. Joe's dad also happened to be the assistant principal at the Junior high school we attended. Imagine that, having your vice principal next door! One time, I received a notice in homeroom to report to Joe's dad. I couldn't imagine what I'd done wrong....I hadn't even skipped any classes! (not that time, anyway  ). When I went to his office and asked what I'd done, he told me he wanted to let me know my stereo had been up to loud the night before and he couldn't sleep! (my bedroom was right adjacent to the side of Joe's house where his parents slept).Oh, the perks of having the vice principal next door! oh yes- those were the days- I did not enjoy being the son of the vice principal, everyone who got in trouble wanted to sneer at me.
Sometimes kids would get called into his office for smoking in the bathrooms. Now he would smoke in his office and have an ashtray in his drawer, so kids would tell me about him closing his drawer and lecturing them about not smoking while the smoke was drifting out of the desk.

By way of introduction, I have had a long-time interest in all things audio, as Pete has mentioned from our childhood. It was Pete who really got my interests going.
I have done some things over the years, like recording and mixing live music every week for a period of 5 or so years. I am fascinated by acoustics and can hear subtleties that escape a lot of people, (but I am sure not most people here). I have eclectic tastes in music. I have recently been using the computer a lot in conjunction with my audio interests, including a lot of lossless file conversion and listening. I have the good fortune to live about a mile from the McIntosh labs here in Binghamton. Recently I visited and listened to the theater system they have there. I need to go back! I met a few people who are very helpful there. Please let me know if anyone would like assistance from the lab, I may be able to help by visiting them. They have also a lot of manuals in digital form. Finally, I have to finish with one more "I have", which is I have quite a bit to learn here, and looking forward to it! Joe
