+2 on the Billy Bags. Well made, to order or buy a stock piece if it will work. Filled the legs with lead shot and it is one solid, heavy piece.

+1 on the Salamander. Reasonably priced and modular. It comes in a variety of styles as well.

Wow!! Thanks everyone!
So many great suggestions. Some of these stands I've heard of before, others are completely new to me. AA is such a great place. Now I have my homework cut out for me. Which route to go...

Here's my master plan... in a nutshell.
The picture below is my room. What I want to do, is mount the tv on the wall, move my poor center channel speaker all tucked away like that, to the top of the stand where the tv is currently. Then get a decent stand (replacing the current stand) to place 3 amps, my pre/pro, a blu-ray and my MCD500. The other components will stay in the back room. I will need to move my dedicated 20 amp circuits into this room and perhaps get a few longer cables. But I think it will look nice and give me much easier access to my source components. Instead of getting up and making that long walk into the back room. What do the experts think? Should I leave well enough alone? Or go for it?

Went with the BDI pedestal TV stand (without shelves-just one set of brackets that the center channel rests on. Lovan stands-two on each side of the TV for components. Bought everything at Best TV Stand and Mounting Solutions Store on the Internet, Stands and Mounts.com Great to deal with and will price match plus take an additional 10.00 off. |
