single action vs double action

When I say double action I include all others like HK P7's and such, yeah Glock too.

I am and always be a single action semi-auto kind of guy. What's better than a cocked and locked 1911 or Browning P-35/hi-power?

I do understand personal preference but when the chips are down I'll take a single action every single time.

It's humors me that one of the reasons for the double action style success
is for the novice shooter, which far too many police officers, need something that shoots like a revolver but carriers many rounds. It has made it easier and less costly to train the officers. Fact is the most important round fired is the first which can be a problem with a double action. Then since the good guys, not all, do not train enough so they spray and pray. We have seen this far too many times.

By the way I am not saying the D/A's are not good guns but the mentality of not training to perform and have the best in a critical situation is really troubling.

SA for me, always, in Condition 2.

I was trained on SA's, have used SA's exclusively and won competitions with SA's so I feel most comfortable with them.

Using SA's is second nature to me.

Condition one for me always weather at home or on the road. No mistakes as to what's what when/if the situation turns extremely tense. Like you said second nature.

For carry, SA condition 1. For home, SA condition 3. I don't mind either, SA or DA but I have a slight preference for SA.

Cocked and locked, eh? It does work and I have carried in that condition. Condition 2 gives me two safety reserves just in case.

I hope I never have to find out for real but it works wonderfully at the range/practice/draw-dry fire practice. Just something I am used to more than anything else.

Practice practice practice no matter what kind of firearm you use. That's one of the issues I have with the D/A mentality, less practice the good guys think they need.

Smooth and slow is really fast and that's what makes a professional. It comes with practice practice and practice

Having been almost exclusively at Condition 2, pulling back that hammer is the next to last decision you have to make before pulling the trigger.

Been there, done that and some would say it slows down your response. It doesn't in my view.
