The best RCM is the one you use; my go to cleaner is Klaudio. The CA-DMS still takes too much effort; clamp vinyl, move arm, start machine, move anti static arm, unclamp.

Just wondering if you have hooked up the Nagra VPS to the MPS and what are your impressions ? I just obtained a Nagra MPS for my VPS. I presume some breakin is required. Straight out of the box can't make out much if anything Cheers Pradeep

Pradeep,
If your mps has the battery option, feed your vps through input 1 for maximum impact. |

When I did get the MPS, I saw a big difference with break-in after one month of continuous power-on. Also, it needs to be on for at least 24 hours to play at its optimum. Finally, while my MPS does have the battery option, I always preferred it using linear portion of the PS as opposed to the battery section. In my system anyway, the linear portion is simply better and more fluid than the battery section... Hope this helps. |

Is vinyl worth it? To me yes. Beyond the sound quality, vinyl provides the chance to hear music inexpensively that I would not normally buy a CD to hear.. There is a great deal of old LPs available for next to nothing. Plus vinyl gives me a chance to have fun hunting for those gems that are out there.

I think 10 hours of playing time is not enough in terms of really assessing Uni Premium, you should wait until 70-80 hours IMHO. That said, even after 1 hour of listening I never felt Uni Premium lacked anything (eg less bass energy) or had something extra to give (eg aggressive highs) and tonally it has been neutral. Within time it only refined and refined. I think it is crucial to optimize the cartridge alignment as well as experimenting on vta/vtf/azimuth for that level of a cartridge or its performance will be diluted. I use Zyx with Graham Elite tonearm and even the slightest change in tonearm setting (like anti damping fluid level within pivot or antiskating) made important sonic differences with Zyx. I tried original Omega previously so can not compare Uni Premium to Omega Premium, but I can say Uni Premium's bass texture and dynamic range is clearly superior to Omega as well as much better mids and extended highs. |
