Complete Blue Note Sessions of Thelonious Monk Complete Thelonious Monk at the It Club Clifford Brown/Max Roach Emarcy Albums All are excellent. I wish I had more of them. I really want the Complete Blue Note Sessions of Sam Rivers.

Does Mosaic still press vinyl sets? I have a few that I bought quite a long time ago, I think one is a set of T-Bone Walker recordings. Don't hear much about the company anymore.
After that whole thing about the Beatles reissue, I broke down and bought a Parlaphone Blue Box. I'm looking forward to listening to these, starting with the first album. |

The Ellington Era, Vol I
....three disk set of 1920s/early 1930s Ellington bands. On Columbia and from the late 50s or early 60s. Sound is surprisingly very good for the 78 based material. Hot Jazz at it's finest as the early Ellington bands weren't big bands but bands with far fewer players...and we get to know them on this set as they play legendary Ellington tunes. |

Yes, in fact, they have a nice Clifford Brown/Max Roach set out right now.

Thanks, re the sound of 78's, I haven't progessed to those yet, but that's the next step, along with a regression to mono. The ultimate, of course, is to get to wax cylinders and acoustic playback before I finally leave this mortal coil.....

I may have to buy that box, I didn't realize the guy he played (and died) with was Bud Powell's brother. Sad....

These sets sell out more quickly than other limited releases. If you plan to get it, then do. I think the Monk It Club sessions is now out of print and it came out later last year.
