I really think is a whole system thing. Could be amps, speakers, preaamp, even -less likely- source, stand alone issue. But most likely has to do with how they "get" together, specially amps and speakers, and next pre and amp. Also could very well be just placement of speakers, but if they are in the right spot, should play well loud and low.

I am also finding the CR1's exceptionally good for low level playback. I think it might be the quick responsive nature of the low weight beryllium midrange and tweeter units.

Just swapping the Dartzeel for the Premier 350 and nothing else shows to me the 350 highlights upper frequencies slightly more that the Dartzeel.
